Andrew Duff MEP for East of England

MIFID: A great opportunity for Britain says Duff

11.05.00am GMT Thu 1st Nov 2007

Andrew Duff welcomes the coming into force today, 1st November, of the European Union's MIFID Directive (Markets in financial services directive).

Andrew Duff, Lib Dem Euro-MP for the East of England, said: 'This directive creates great opportunities for the British financial services sector, in which many of my constituents work.

'The opening up of Europe's market in financial services strengthens the European single market and puts in place clear rules for citizens to trade in stocks and shares throughout the Union. The City of London stands to benefit hugely from this reform.'
